Whether you've just purchased or are considering purchasing a new or "new to you" Hyundai, you may have some questions about the included car warranty benefits. It helps to break down the Hyundai warranty information by type to see which parts of the vehicle each protects, so you can have peace of mind that your investment is protected.
New Vehicle Limited Warranty (5-Year / 60,000-Mile): This warranty covers any installed component in the vehicle from material and factory defects. This warranty covers the engine, transmission, infotainment system, drive axles, electrical systems, air conditioning, steering, suspension, differential, and other components. This warranty is transferable to a subsequent owner if the vehicle is still less than 5 years old and has less than 60,000 miles on it.
Powertrain Limited Warranty (10-Year / 100,000-Mile): This warranty offers additional coverage for the engine and transmission beyond the new vehicle's limited warranty. However, this warranty is non-transferable, so a subsequent owner is only entitled to powertrain protection under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Anti-Perforation Warranty (Seven-Year / Unlimited Miles): This warranty covers body panel rust holes that extend from the inside to the outside of the sheet metal caused by manufacturing defects. It does not cover surface corrosion and non-perforation rust.
Hybrid/Electric Battery & Hybrid System Components Warranty (10-Year/100,000-Mile): This warranty covers battery replacement if the battery degrades by more than 70 percent of its original capacity during the covered period. It applies to both hybrid and full-electric vehicles. Additionally, this warranty is transferable between owners.
Federal Emission Defect and Performance Warranty (8-Year / 80,000-Mile): This warranty covers many of the systems necessary to pass EPA emissions testing, including the Catalytic Converter, Engine Control Module, and Onboard Emissions Diagnostic Device.
California Emissions Control Systems Warranty (7-Year / 70,000-Mile): The parts covered by this warranty differ between vehicles. It offers additional protection beyond the Federal Emission Defect and Performance Warranty for vehicles sold in California.
24-Hour Roadside Assistance (5-Year / Unlimited Miles): While not a warranty for part repair or replacement, this service helps stranded drivers with roadside emergencies. If your Hyundai stops working on the road, call (800) 243-7766 for help.
Things Hyundai Warranties Don't Cover:
Regular maintenance: Warranties do not cover oil changes, tire rotations, transmission fluid flushes, and other routine maintenance. However, if you have a complimentary maintenance plan, it will cover some of these services.
Wear and tear: Warranties typically don't cover tires, brake pads, brake rotors, batteries, light bulbs, air filters, wiper blades, and other parts that wear down due to regular use.
Vehicle damage: Warranties typically don't cover vehicle damage from an accident, collision, storm, debris, or another other external source.
